How Fast You Got There (EP) (2012)

Where You Went

Well, I rang your line about a week ago.
I was wondering if you’d changed your mind.
Voice on the line said you were unavailable.
My brother said, “well, maybe that’s a sign.”
So I stumbled to hang up the phone
and I blew those numbers up a few more times.

Fire and rain: I guess they’re the same
when you’re setting the ocean aflame.
I am the faced turn around in your frame.
I’m losing my grip on the reins.

Ooh, Oh.
And I tried letting go.
If you want self control I’ll show you something else.
It’s just how I felt,
and i feel you don’t care,
but I still miss your stare and the smell of your hair.
It’s not where you went, girl, it’s how fast you got there.

So, just how deep do your pockets go?
You know mine never went too far.
When the money wasn’t there I should’ve known
that you might have a change of heart.
The only Cash I’ve ever known is Johnny
and he plays a mean guitar.

Holding my breath for someone else
to get me higher than I ever got myself.
I was happy and I thought you felt the same.
Now I’m losing my grip on the reins.

So how about something on the side, girl?
Did you force yourself to go to sleep at night?
How do you fit two in your life, girl?
Two wrongs never made a thing right.
I may not be the one you love,
but I could show you something you might like, girl.

All of my thoughts on something lost:
not the price but the time that you cost.
I am crippled by lines that you’ve crossed.
I’d say that I’m losing my grip on the reins.
