THE INSIDER’S MUSIC GUIDE TO COLUMBIA

Last year Stagbriar was featured in NPR’s 100 bands to check out at South by Southwest. They recently recorded a new song for the Papa Jazz Sessions, tying the local music scene to the city’s most beloved record store. Stagbriar is a brother-sister duo, with writing chops that reflect their love of classic songwriting. One of their most popular songs, “Tom,” is a traditional murder ballad off their debut album Quasi-Hymns, Murder-Ballads, and Tales of How the Hero Died. The McCollum siblings’ voices flow together as one, woven into a harmony most vocalists can only hope to attain.
